A BEACON OF HOPE AND INSPIRATION
MAY 2024
Romer Pantig Jr., known as Tatay Jhun or Kuya Jhun in their area in Barangay Mayondon, Los Banos, Laguna, is a former OFW who worked as a sign artist, printer, and mural artistfor many years. Tatay Jhun worked hard overseas to sustain the needs of his family, and just a few years before the pandemic hit, he returned to the Philippines for good, as his twodaughters had already established their own careers.
During his time overseas and whenever he visited the Philippines, he always observed the hardships and challenges faced by the people in his community, especially the children. He held in his heart the desire to help them in any way he could when the opportunity arose. That’s why when GoFeed was introduced to his community, he did not hesitate to volunteer and offer his family's living room to become the GoFeed center. Now, he has stepped up to become the GoFeed coordinator of their community. Together with his wife and the people in the community whom they have mentored, they facilitate the community smoothly. They do it voluntarily, remembering their desire to help those in need. It's also wonderful to hear that he and his wife are empowering their neighbors to join in the effort. Community involvement is key to sustainable change, and Tatay Jhun's leadership is undoubtedly inspiring others to get involved and contribute in their own ways.
Tatay Jhun's story is a reminder that anyone, regardless of background or circumstances, can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. His dedication and selflessnessserve as a beacon of hope and inspiration for us all.
